Angiotensin receptor blocker selectivity at the AT₁- and AT₂-receptors: conceptual and clinical effects

In summary, use of an Ang II receptor blocker inhibits all the effects directly mediated by the AT₁-receptor. If the AT₂-receptor is expressed, increased local stimulation by Ang II may add to the beneficial effects of AT₁ blockade, leading to increased repair or other antitrophic, depressor and natriuretic effects.
