Volume 1, Number 2, December 2000Angiotensin receptor blocker selectivity at the AT1- and AT2-receptors: conceptual and clinical effects In summary, use of an Ang II receptor blocker inhibits all the effects directly mediated by the AT1-receptor. If the AT2-receptor is expressed, increased local stimulation by Ang II may add to the beneficial effects of AT1 blockade, leading to increased repair or other antitrophic, depressor and natriuretic effects.
